Learning

Sukhy teaches individual and small group workshops on subjects such as documentary photography, portraiture and creativity.

I teach aspiring documentary photographers how to start and complete meaningful photo stories with confidence, skills and knowledge.

Being self-taught, I struggled to find affordable, easily accessible information on how to create photographic stories. I wanted to address this, so I’ve spent o̶v̶e̶r̶ a̶ y̶e̶a̶r̶ over two years making a course which would enable people to make their own stories.

Individuals

Workshops for individuals are specific and tailored to your needs and requirements. Subject matter is broad ranging from film photography, making portraits which resonate and storytelling with pictures.

Sukhy works with one individual each year for a 12 Month Program. This immersive workshop involves creating a project idea, developing the idea and results in completed body of work. Next availability is July 2025.

You can book a 15min pre-booking chat to discuss workshops, portfolio reviews and the 12 Month Program by emailing shullait@gmail.com.

Groups

Group workshops are in person and online. In person workshops are hands on, interactive and tailored for groups with mixed abilities. The street portrait workshop enables people to quickly enhance their compositional and communication skills. We cover how to overcome fears and successfully approach a stranger, how to develop rapport and then rapidly produce a meaningful portrait. This is done through practical exercises and discussions. For example I teach people who want to make environmental portraits, go from being afraid to approach people and not knowing how to making beautiful photographs which speak of the human condition.

Online Workshops

Online workshops bring a more example based approach drawing on my own work and the work of lesser known and familiar photographers. These workshops often follow the format of a teaching element where we discuss a technique or concept, a practical component where attendees put into practice what has been taught, followed by a review and discussion of the attendees work.

Workshop clients include The Royal Photographic Society, Leica, The RSA, Airbnb Paris, Edinburgh Photographic Society, Liverpool City Council, The Photography Foundation, Arts & Health Hub, Streatham Festival.
